I ordered a rug and now I’m freaking out

After what feels like years of pining after rugs and not being able to pull the trigger, I did it. I used birthday money + a healthy PayPal balance to buy this Verona Blue Area Rug on Wayfair.

Isn’t she gorgeous?
Yes, I jumped on the blogger train and got a Turkish rug with an oriental pattern. I couldn’t help it. I love the faded, classic look. Plus I’m hoping that it distracts from the stains that will eventually come.
The power went out the other night and I woke up to our smoke alarm doing the annoying screechy beep it does to let us know the goddamn power is out. Luckily it didn’t last long, but I had a hard time falling back asleep.
Half-awake, half lost in a hazy dream, I tossed and turned to visions of the kids getting paint on the rug. Getting marker on the rug. Dropping glasses of brightly-coloured Kool-Aid (which we don’t even BUY) all over the rug.
Have to cancel it!

Mumble, mumble … Paypal! Refund!

So many stains! No!

I woke up in the morning feeling less panicky, and the rug is supposed to ship today. It is literally the FIRST RUG I HAVE EVER PURCHASED and it feels like I’m adopting it. It was a huge decision and now I’m worried it’s going to make me extremely paranoid about stains. All. Of. The. Time.
So hit me up with your best stain remover suggestions, ’cause I’m pretty sure ordering a living room rug one week before bringing home a puppy was a Perfect Storm of Stupid.

So what do you think?
