21 weeks, 5 days preggo
Mother-in-law (rubbing my belly): Aww, look at the baby.
Me: Yeah, it’s getting bigger!
Mother-in-law: You know, by the end, you’re going to be out to here! (Gestures waaaaay out in front of me)
Me: Um … yeah!
Mother-in-law: When I was pregnant with my first, I was six months along before I needed a maternity dress.
Me: Oh …
Mother-in-law: Yes, I cried — I felt so huge!
Me: Yeah …
Mother-in-law: Of course, I was only 112 lbs. when I gave birth.
Me: Good-bye.
Yeah, it's funny how the mind plays tricks on you and makes you forget things after time (like how big you really were?) People who were pregnant before digital cameras had it so good…didn't take weekly photos, etc. I'm sure she's exaggerating her size (although some people are small.) However, sometimes the smaller you are, the more you show (my mom is 4'11″ and showed outward quickly with all of her pregnancies, and I'm 5'2″ and am showing a lot, but it's all out because I'm short waisted and the baby has no place to grow but out.) 🙂 Even though she's your MIL, it's ok to tell her to suck it (ok, maybe not to her face, but under your breath?) 🙂

No, I'm sure you're right — I'm sure she WAS much bigger than she remembers. I should ask to see a photo, haha, and that will probably make me feel better.
I think I'm short-waisted as well (long legs, but very short upper body), so that is very reassuring. Thanks!
