A touch of pink

Happy Friday, my beloved readers!
During our weekly stitch’n’bitch, dear L and I were uber-productive. I took a break from my baby quilts and bibbity bobbity bibs to work on a home-decor item.
On a whim, I decided wanted to create some new art for our shared my chocolate brown and white bathroom. I needed to cover up a very unsightly jacuzzi dial …

Two hours later, the whole wall was transformed … for free! Using an old wooden frame — which I painted pink — a canvas, some ribbon, gems, an angel figurine, and some wedding towels — lovingly arranged by L — we made this …

Once that wall was done, L and I were inspired to keep the renos going! I think it was a pink-and-chocolate-brown high.

So I dug around in my crafty drawers, and found a make-your-own-nightlight kit that I bought ages ago and never used. A little chocolate brown leather — rescued from an old bag — and pink ribbon, and I had a new nightlight!

Eager to keep going, I grabbed some leftover Juicy Couture printed ribbon — which I saved after unwrapping my Christmas robe from Little Sis — and tied it around some matching towels by the tub.

Pink, hearts, ribbon, gems … it is a girly overload, and I adore it. Thank God Darling Husband has his own bathroom.

L-O-V-E!

Baby corn, baby shrimp … see a pattern?

Remember the episode of Full House when Rebecca tells Jesse she’s pregnant, and she makes that dinner of baby corn, baby shrimp, and baby back ribs? And then she eventually tells him through charades?
Welllll, always the ones to get ahead of ourselves, Darling Husband and I have been talking about ways to announce the big news … you know, once there is news to tell.

His big plan — if we got pregnant sometime in the fall — was to wait until Christmas and wrap up baby-type gifts for our parents, and have them unwrap them. Surprise! Everyone is happy, etc.
While his idea was super-cute, I pointed out that me and my big mouth could not keep a secret that long. I wouldn’t tell the world right away, but I would certainly tell my Mama Bear and Sister Bear the second I suspected anything.
My idea on how to announce it came just a few weeks ago, during a routine fabric-buying spree with L

My mother l-o-v-e-s Paris, and when I saw this print, I flipped. It is so perfectly Mom.
So I immediately decided that I would make a baby blanket with this print, embroider it with something like “J’aime ma grand-mere,” and give it to her whenever I announce the good news.
I will also make a custom blanket dedicated to Little Sis — “I love my Auntie.” They can keep the blankets, and use them whenever they baby-sit!
Hmm, just realized I am not even preggo and am already lining up baby-sitters …

The magic number?

TMI alert!!! Sorry to over-share, but I am finding something kind of hilarious …

According to internet calculation things,  last month I ovulated on February 18.
Because February was 28 days, I am ovulating today, March 18.
Best Friend’s wedding — for which I must not be pregnant — is on July 18.
I know this is just a weird occurance because of the super-short month, but HA … can you imagine if I happened to be ovulating on her wedding day?
Bahahahahaha, once the dance is over, I would be ripping that matron-of-honour dress off!

The money shot

Everyone loves a good baby-belly pic, and these ones by photographer Ryan Marshall take cute to the extreme!

The photos, the words, the overall adorableness — SWOON!

Hi, my name is …

At the moment, a few real-life peeps know about this blog — shoutout to Best Friend, L and C! — but for the most part, it’s on the down-low.
When I started Laptops to Lullabies, it was a huge secret. I was still coming to terms with my thoughts, and wasn’t ready to share them with people who know me in real life.
Over the last couple of months, I have become more comfortable with my plans for the future, and have started talking about them out loud. Then, when I find someone who I know will understand and not be all Blabby McBlabberson, I tell them about this.
People sometimes ask me if this blog will always be anonymous — the answer is: I don’t think so. At some point, I’ll be me — no secrets.
For now, though — shhhhhh!
