Today I’m sharing a gift guide for the HOME — full of items that would make a great gift for basically ANY adult. Ready to dive in?

1. A custom address stamper.

You know the person’s address, right? Type it in carefully, choose a fun design, and you can get them a self-inking custom address stamper that will make sending Christmas cards (and birth announcements, invitations, cards, etc.) soooooo much easier. I got mine five years ago from my mom, and it’s one of my all-time favourite (and USEFUL) gifts.

2. A quality, classic photo frame.

Frames are not cheap — at least, not GOOD frames — and they make a great gift. I’ve been slowly upgrading the frames in our home — admittedly, some of them were from the Dollarama — so I have a newfound appreciation for nice frames. I love this classic brushed gold frame (with an 8×10 opening).

3. A cozy throw (that will go with any decor).

Normally I would NOT recommend buying someone home decor — even if you *think* you know their taste, what if you’re wrong? But there are classic pieces — like this pieced sherpa throw — that would fit nicely into any space. I received a similar (light grey) throw last year for Christmas, and we have used it a TON over the past year. Everyone likes a cuddly blanket for movies on the couch, and this one’s neutral enough to be folded over the arm of any sofa in between uses.

4. A perfect mug.

I’ve decided I’m over our “matchy” mugs — the white ones that came in our box of white dishes. They’re not cute. They’re not fun. I never, ever choose them. They serve no purpose other than matching the rest of our dishes, and who cares about that, really. I love a thoughtful mug with a design or phrase that MEANS something — like this “Sometimes all you need is a good book and a cup of tea” mug from Indigo. It speaks to my heart.

5. Something to make their bathroom smell fresh.

I used to be convinced I couldn’t be around anything scented (#allergylife) but surprisingly I can tolerate almost any Scentsy fragrance (all of ’em but the really floral or powdery ones, it seems). I have this “Live simply” warmer in our powder room, and I love it. It gives the room that “just-cleaned” smell, so I always try to put a fresh cube in and flick it on before we have company. My favourite is Oodles of Orange because it just smells CLEAN and yummy, without being overpowering. (Darling Husband has expressed that he really likes it, too, which shocked me.)

5. Something to help THEM make ANY bathroom smell fresh.

You guys, I don’t usually buy things just because they’re advertised on Facebook — it’s like the 2017 version of an infomercial, I guess? But when I saw this video for Poo~Pourri, I thought it was so frigging funny that I actually clicked on the link and put it in order immediately. (Hopefully the order gets associated with my watching the video, because whoever made it deserves mad props. WELL DONE.)

If you’re unfamiliar with Poo~Pourri, its claim to fame is being the “before you go” toilet spray. I can’t personally attest to its effectiveness, since the box of bottles is still in my closet (not sure yet which ones I’m gifting and which one(s) I’m keeping). But apparently you get up to 100 uses in a tiny 2 oz. bottle. As someone who has MAJOR PUBLIC BATHROOM ANXIETY dating back to elementary school, I’m totally going to keep one in my purse for the, oh, one time a year when I might “need to go” outside of my own home.

6. A customizable pillow that can improve their sleep.

I don’t care who you are or how early you go to bed (if you’re me, SUPER EARLY), the idea of getting a BETTER sleep is delectable, isn’t it? Mediflow sent me their Floating Comfort Waterbase Pillow to try out, and YOU GUYS, it is seriously cool. Right now it’s the No. 1-selling pillow in six countries, AND it was invented right here in Canada.

You get to put in as much water as you want — it includes a little plastic spout, which I’ve tucked in my nightstand for future fillings — and customize the firmness. I made mine really firm because I realized I was always sleeping with one arm under my pillow to make it harder, and I love the way it feels. It’s not squishy like a waterbed (I should know, I’ve had two! #80skid) because you press the excess air out of it before you screw the top on.

Check back tomorrow for my FINAL gift guide — the biggie: kids! C and D have been busily helping me review some of the year’s hottest toys (it’s a hard life for blog children, I tell you!) and they’re excited to share their favourites.
