DIY laptop storage from a magazine holder

People sometimes ask me where I get my project ideas, and there isn’t a simple answer.

Sometimes I see an inspiration photo (usually on Pinterest) or an item in a store, and try to recreate it — putting my own spin on it, of course.

Other times a project comes out of a problem I’m trying to solve. An area that’s too crowded, too disorganized or too blah — a spot in our home that’s calling out for a custom-made creation.

There also times when I stare at the bones of something and know it has the potential to be something more . . . only I’m not immediately sure what that something is. I just know it has potential.

That’s what happened with this sad wooden magazine holder. My friend found it at a local thrift store for just three dollars, and decided to bring it home.
