DIY poutine platter

I realized I should probably do a post about the custom poutine plate I made for Little Sis’s birthday, since everyone at her party was pretty amazed by it — and this is hard to believe, but not everyone is on Pinterest. I know! It’s shocking.
It was super-simple. I bought a plain white plate at Dollarama, grabbed a black Sharpie I already owned, and got my design flowin’ …
Little Sis is a huge lover of homemade poutine (although, unfairly, she is not a huge person). So I knew I wanted to do a joke about how poutine is a complete meal — it really is, isn’t it?
Once I drew my design — and decorated the back for fun! — I popped it in the oven at 425 degrees and baked it for 30 minutes.
When the timer went off, I turned off the heat but left the plate inside the oven to cool on its own. A few hours later, I took it out, and VOILA — permanent design!
As far as I know, this is dishwasher-safe, but I’m not sure if Little Sis has tested that yet. I’ll probably stick with hand-washing, if I make another one of these, just to play it safe.
Think of all the possibilities! I want to make a plate with D, and see what kind of design he comes up with. Maybe it would encourage him to eat all of his veggies? Maybe? Possibly?

I used to already to make my home-made poutine (which was incredible!) and my boyfriend put it in the dishwasher without realizing and it is still perfect!!! Yay! Thanks again!

Glad to hear it didn't fade in the dishwasher, Sis! Now the sky's the limit for all the fun (and hilarious) dishes we can make 🙂
