I could play with this for hours …

I am totally in love with the ICI Paints Color Visualization Tool. Thanks for the great suggestion, Newlyb!
Here are some possible combinations I came up with …

Option A: According to ICI Paint, it’s the “colour of the year.” Would be great for re-sale value, because it’s pretty neutral, but I’m not sure if it’s punchy enough for me …

Option B: I really like the brown/grey combination, but paired with our yet-to-be-purchased dark furniture, it might be too much …

Option C: I adore this pumpkin-y colour, and think it looks nice against the dark furniture. But is it too bold for potential buyers, down the the road?

Operation: New bedroom

I came, I saw, I cleaned …

Yes, I had quite the organization marathon over the weekend. Over at like a hamster on a wheel, Newlyb was apparently going through the same thing.
I’m not sure what came over me, because I have never been hit by the de-clutter bug quite as hard as I was last week. I completely re-did the big bathroom on Thursday night, and dove straight into the closet makeover on Friday night.
By Saturday morning, the closet was done. By Saturday evening, I had ripped every single item of clothing out of our armoirs, sorted, tossed, and re-folded. I had taken down the curtains. I had re-arranged all of the furniture. I had stripped the bed. I took everything off the walls.
And then I was left with … well, a really bland, empty room.
For the two years that we have lived in our current home, our bedroom has been a mix of toffee, chocolate brown and cream. I thought it was the perfect colour combination, but now, of course, I am sick of it.
Now that I’m done to the bare minimum, I can actually look at the room and try to visualize what I want. Over the next few weeks, my goal is to …
  • Re-paint the walls and trim
  • Sew new curtains
  • Sew new pillowcases and throw pillows
  • Paint new art for the very-empty focal wall
If I’m being totally honest, I know my sudden home-beautifying obsession is coming from the fact that we are not going anywhere soon. I think I have put off doing much home decor lately because I was hoping we’d be outta there.
Now, I am determined to make the most out of the space for as long as we’re there. So … any colour suggestions???

Is it really that obvious?

SCENE: Mom’s kitchen. Sunday evening.

ME: It’s so cute! Little Dog actually thinks she’s a bear cub. Sometimes I called her “Brown Bear,” and I tell her that I found her in the woods and she was lost. And then I tell her that I scooped her up and took her home and fed her nuts and berries and honey.
LITTLE SIS: Um,  you really need a baby …

Downsizing: Closet Edition

I’m going to be a bad blogger today, and only shoot you a couple of sentences.

You see, I am in a cleaning frenzy — nesting a year early? — and spent last night cleaning out my closet and doing the keep/toss tango. I put away all my winter clothes (which is probably a bad idea, for March in Canada) and dragged out my spring/summer-wear.
I am consumed with the need to keep doing things like this …

So satisfying.
Unfortunately, I am only finished with the closet, and still have two armoirs and a shoe/coat closet before I can think about taking a breaksies.
Happy Spring Cleaning!

Pint-sized celebrities

Once of my fave sites to surf while I’m eating my lunch is CelebrityBabyScoop.

The babies-and-tots version of Perez or TMZ, this one celebrity site that skips the cattiness — and focuses exclusively on stars and their kids, like Heidi Klum and Henry (pictured here).
Besides posting info on where to buy celebrity baby clothes and accessories, they’re usually the first site to post belly pics, baby pics, and announce pregnancies — and that’s the kind of breaking news I can get behind!
